“More than two decades after Buccini/Pollin Group Inc. bought the Nemours building in downtown Wilmington, the developer is set to unveil the property’s next stage of transformation as 92 apartments will become available July 1.
It’s part of a $100 million makeover, which will eventually add 355 apartments total and reduce the 14-story building’s office space from 450,000 square feet to 150,000 square feet.
Buccini/Pollin bought the building from chemical giant DuPont in 1999. At that time, the 800,000-square-foot building was fully office space and part of DuPont’s worldwide headquarters campus in downtown Wilmington.
The addition of 355 apartments reflect the building’s evolution. After Buccini/Pollin acquired the property, the company reduced the office space by nearly 40% to 500,000 square feet and added 85 furnished apartments, retail space, a gym and Theatre N, which shows independent movies. Buccini/Pollin is now rebranding the Nemours building as Market West.”
