It’s been a long time coming for the Philadelphia property, which stood vacant since 1996. It had a handful of development proposals over those years only to have it change ownership several times and nothing came of the plans. That changed in 2016 when Buccini Pollin Group of Wilmington bought the property for $9 million and moved forward with constructing a mixed-use project on the site.
Buccini Pollin partnered with AFL-CIO Building Investment Trust on the project that has 192 apartments that have rents ranging from $1,700 a month to $3,200. The design of the development includes a recreation of an orange tile facade and stainless steel “National” sign.
“It’s been a long road for the project,” said Boris Kaplan, Vice President at Buccini Pollin. “It’s been on my mind for quite some time and the project has exceeded expectations.”
