Job Purpose

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for creating initiatives, systems, and best practices to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse and high-performing workforce and building an organizational culture that supports the company’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.

The HR Director will establish best practices and objectives for all areas of HR including talent management, performance management, succession planning, HRIS and HR Data and Analytics, benefits, and compensation, and culture and engagement. The Director of Human Resources will serve as a strategic business partner to the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, and the Managers of BPG’s functional lines and operational businesses to deliver an HR strategy and employee culture that aligns with corporate goals.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to execute the organization’s goals and strategy related to employment, performance management, retention and all other HR functions.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to company management.
  • Provides leadership and guidance in areas relating to compliance, including but not limited to: EEO, FLSA, COBRA administration, and pay equity and HIPAA regulations.
  • Oversee and manage benefits, compliance, compensation and analytics including, but not limited to:
  • Maintain relationship with benefit brokers and stay well-informed of employee issues as it relates to benefits.
  • Responsible for annual workers comp audit, NDT Testing (FSA), 5500 filing, OSHA reporting, annual ACA reporting, etc.
  • Lead and effectively execute ongoing, quarterly, and year-end compensation efforts.
  • Provide monthly reporting to departments on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis.
  • Designs and implements organizational performance management systems leveraging existing and new technologies for maximum impact to the organization and employees.
  • Consults with functional and business partners to assess needs, identify skill and performance gaps and opportunities, and designs interventions that will deliver improved results against business and strategic goals.
  • Provides counsel to the Leadership Team and Managers on performance issues and employee investigations and makes recommendations aligned with regulation, policy, and organizational precedent.
  • Continually assesses the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
  • Creates and executes training and development programs and measures the effectiveness of the programs.
  • Lead, manage and develop all associates within the HR department.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Must be comfortable with being in-office 5 days a week.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all organization levels and coordinate cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ability to integrate data from reports and other data sources to make appropriate employment and other decisions.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; emphasis on providing solutions and being proactive.
  • Agility to anticipate changing business needs, and flexibility to effectively coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Broad perspective from working in various industries, functions, or business situations.
  • Knowledge of applicable HR statutes and regulations, such as ADA, COBRA, FMLA, FLSA, HIPAA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ACA, etc.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably within Human Resources or a business-related discipline.

Experience.

  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience required.
  • Must demonstrate organization-wide Human Resources competencies with a proven track record of measurable organizational impacts.
  • Proven ability to learn and apply new systems, process and applications.
  • Experience working and interacting with diverse stakeholders across all levels to achieve company goals.
  • Prior real estate, development, and/or hospitality experience is a plus.
  • HR certification(s) are a plus. (HRCI and/or SHRM)
  • Advance Excel experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Requires prolonged sitting.
  • Requires frequent operation of office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, telephone, etc.
  • Occasional stretching and / or bending to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
